Recently, my parents have been looking for an employee to work in my dad's office. We have been receiving a bunch of resumés, and I decided to look at some of them, which has certainly been a learning experience.
Many of the resumés just scream, "DO NOT HIRE ME," just because of minuscule issues. For example, choosing the correct font is very important. Although it may not seem so, picking the wrong font can completely turn off a possible employer. A few of the resumés are written in comic sans and courier new, and if they are, it seems like it's not even worth it to read the resumé.
In addition, apparently some people are not aware of the existence of spell check. I cannot begin to explain how many words are misspelled, or how many homophones (ex. patients and patience) are used incorrectly.
Overall, from the resumés, I have not only learned a lot, but had a few good laughs.
