Although I'm not Irish at all, my mom made corned beef, cabbage, and potatoes for dinner today since it's Saint Patrick's Day. I've never have corned beef before so I asked her over and over and over to make it and she did! My house smells pretty great right now so hopefully it will be delicious.
In my old school, if you didn't wear green on Saint Patrick's Day, you would get shunned for the day. However, today, a majority of the students weren't wearing green. No annoying wumbo ran around pinching kids for not wearing green, either. This was pretty surprising to me. I understand that a good amount of the kids in our school are not Irish, but I was still pretty surprised.
I find it pretty funny that as holidays have evolved, a smaller and smaller amount of people celebrate them for what they're actually meant to be celebrated for. People tend to use Saint Patrick's Day as an excuse to drink and party, which is quite funny since it started as a day to commemorate Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity to Ireland.
I hope you have a wonderful evening. Peace out.
