As some of you know, Tuesday was my friend Hannah's birthday. Hannah passed away in September after she lost her battle with brain cancer. In honor of Hannah, her mom scheduled a balloon release at a local park to send messages to her in heaven. Since the weather was cold and gloomy on Tuesday, the balloon release was rescheduled to today.
As I made my way to the park, I could see the sun peeking from behind the clouds. It was a bit windy, but otherwise it was beautiful day. There were little cards with strings attached to them, and we wrote our messages to Hannah on them. Then, we tided them onto balloons and got ready for the balloon release.
It was so nice seeing everyone together, since I haven't seen a lot of people from my hometown in a really long time. Even though Hannah's story is a sad one, it is amazing how much she did for our community. She brought us all together, and has helped the community address the issue of cancer treatment.
Overall, the balloon release was beautiful (even though my balloon failed at flying) and it was a great was to remember Hannah's legacy.
