For many of you, the bus ride to school is a time to study, finish you homework, or just sleep. In my case, even if I plan to do any of those things, they never happen. To get to school, I have to take two buses: one to my home school from my house, and then another to High Tech from my home school. Although I live only 10-15 minutes away from High Tech, my bus ride(s) take anywhere from 45-60 minutes. Honestly, I don't really mind spending so much time on the bus. Often, sitting on the bus is my only time to relax and do absolutely nothing for a little while during the day.
The main problem with my bus is that it is completely full. We have kids from 5 towns on our bus, and kids from CBA as well. Because of this, our bus does not have a single seat open. Period. Now, let me tell you, "three seaters" may fit three five-year-olds, but there is no way three high schoolers are going to fit in one of those seats comfortably. Many times, the person who is nearest the aisle of the seat falls off every time the bus makes the slightest turn. There is barely any room to breathe. We have tried to get a bigger bus on many occasions, but the bus company is not at all in favor of doing so.
The other problem I have with my bus is our driver, Jean (pronounced with an angry French accent). Jean is a nice guy and all, but he's not all that reliable. Many times, Jean just doesn't come to pick us up. For whatever reason, he never shows up, and we are forced to get a ride to school at the last minute. If there is a delayed opening, Jean is definitely not going to show up. I have no idea why, he just doesn't come. One time, Jean didn't show up in the morning, and in the afternoon, he told us that he "couldn't find us in the morning." I can assure you that we were in the same place that we always are, freezing outside of the doors of Monmouth Regional. Also, Jean just skips stops sometimes, and claims that he'll "come back to them later" because he "has no time". What does that even mean?? On Monday, Jean didn't come to take us home from High Tech, and when we called the bus company, they had no idea where he was. I don't really understand how they have absolutely no clue as to where Jean was. Oh well. Once, Jean even picked up the wrong kids and took them home instead of us.
Even though getting to and from school is somewhat hectic, I don't mind it all that much since I know some kids face extremely long rides to and from school. Hopefully by next year, we will have a roomier bus!
